Just a little note

I have made some changes in the blog layout. The most notable change is that there are advertisements between posts. I'm trying to keep the "annoyance factor" low, so it's only going to be text ads, no huge pictures or banners. Another addition is the PayPal donation button in the sidebar. If you find the instructions useful and feel like making a small donation, it would be much appreciated.

Part III of the video

This was originally supposed to be a three-part video, but as I haven't finished the shoes yet, I decided to post the progress so far after the second part.

Etsy

I put for sale into Etsy some things I have made earlier. There are also a couple of card woven bands made of sewing thread, which are suitable for miniature projects, and a couple of Barbie sized belts made of card woven band.

There will probably be more miniature card woven bands, because I'm experimenting with different colors and patterns. It's just so slow with thin sewing thread. On the other hand, a Barbie belt isn't very long, so it is easy to use the same colors for different patterns as there is no point setting everything up just for one short piece.

Part II of the video

Here is the second part of making shoes for a Sybarite. If this seems like slow progress, I'd like to point out that this video was edited from 30 minutes of video and even that is only part of the time I spent for these stages as the camera was not filming all the time (I just filmed the parts I thought would be informative).

Here is an additional little clip of footage not included in the video above. This shows in more detail how to bend the inner sole into the correct shape before the glue has had time to set.

Now even in video

I decided to try filming some of the stuff I do. The first video is now uploaded in YouTube. There is no sound and editing is not very professional, but I'm sure the quality will improve as I get more experience on this.

Baha Cat

Dolls and Friends was closing and there was this Pipos Baha Cat on 65% discount, so I got one a bit ahead of the schedule.

I wanted to take pictures of the doll outside and as it is winter now, she needed shoes for that. The doll's feet are fairly small, which limits the types of shoes I can make for her. However, boots with laces are always a safe option, so I started with those.

The picture below shows the inner soles (thick white leather) and the upper parts (brown leather). There are only three pairs of holes for the laces as the eyelets were a bit large.

Parts for Baha Cat's shoes
The next stage was gluing the upper parts in place.
Assembling Baha Cat's shoes
The leather was fairly thick, so I had to glue filler parts on the soles to make sure they would be even after gluing the outer soles in place.

The finished shoes look like this. The picture was cropped from one of the outdoor photos of the doll.

This picture shows the outer soles, which are also made of leather.

Boots

I haven't made any new shoes for some time, but I did make an outfit for the American Model that can be used with the boots shown in the previous post.
